What is an EMS ab stimulator and how does it work?

EMS (Electrical Muscle Stimulation) uses low-level electrical impulses delivered through electrode pads to cause involuntary muscle contractions — replicating the signals your brain sends during physical exercise.

The VoltForm device sends these impulses through pads placed on the skin directly over the target muscle. This stimulates muscle fibres to contract repeatedly without requiring traditional movement, making it a powerful complement to an active lifestyle.

When used consistently with a healthy diet and regular activity, EMS helps tone, define, and strengthen muscles over time.

What do the 12 modes on VoltForm mean?

VoltForm has 12 intensity modes to suit every fitness level:


Modes 1–3: Beginner / recovery. Gentle stimulation, ideal for first-time users, warm-up, and post-workout recovery.
Modes 4–6: Intermediate. Stronger contractions, suitable for users who have completed their first 2 weeks.
Modes 7–9: Advanced. High intensity, best combined with active movement (squats, lunges, planks).
Modes 10–12: Elite. Maximum muscle fibre recruitment. Experienced users only.

Tip: Always start every session on Mode 1 and increase gradually. You should feel a strong, firm contraction — never pain or discomfort.
How long do the electrode pads last?

Electrode pads typically last 20–30 uses with proper care. To extend pad life: always clean and dry your skin before attaching pads, store pads on their protective backing film after each session, and keep them away from heat and direct sunlight.

How do I charge my VoltForm device?

VoltForm charges via the included USB cable. Connect to any USB power source (wall adapter, laptop, power bank). A full charge typically takes 1–2 hours and provides several sessions of use. A charging indicator light will show when the device is charging and when fully charged.

Where do I place the electrode pads?

Always place pads on the muscle belly — never over joints, bones, or the spine. Key placements:


Abs: Either side of the navel on the rectus abdominis (2cm away from belly button)
Glutes: Across the gluteus maximus horizontally
Quads: Upper mid-thigh down to just above the knee
Hamstrings: Upper pad just below glute fold, lower pad mid-hamstring
Chest: Across the pectoral muscle below the collarbone
Arms: One pad each end of the bicep or tricep muscle belly
Calves: Upper pad on calf belly, lower pad above the ankle

Key rule: Keep pads at least 5cm apart. Clean, dry skin gives the best contact and conductivity.

How long does it take to see results with VoltForm?

Most users feel a noticeable difference in muscle tone and firmness within 3–4 weeks of consistent use (3–5 sessions per week). Visible results typically appear between 4–8 weeks when combined with a calorie-controlled diet and regular activity.

The VoltForm 6-week programme is designed to progressively build intensity, giving your muscles time to adapt and grow stronger at every stage.

Important: Results vary based on individual diet, activity level, genetics, and consistency of use. EMS is a complement to healthy habits — not a replacement.
How many times per week should I use VoltForm?

We recommend 3–5 sessions per week, with at least 48 hours between sessions targeting the same muscle group. EMS activates more muscle fibres than conventional exercise, so adequate recovery is essential.

Our 6-week training guide is structured around 3 sessions per week (Mon/Wed/Fri) — the optimal balance between stimulus and recovery.

How do I use VoltForm correctly?

Step-by-step:

1. Clean and dry the skin of the target area — avoid lotions or oils.
2. Attach electrode pads firmly to the muscle belly.
3. Turn the device on and start at Mode 1.
4. Gradually increase the mode until you feel a firm, strong contraction.
5. Run the session for 20–30 minutes.
6. Actively contract the muscle during stimulation for maximum benefit.
7. After your session, remove pads, clean skin, drink water, and eat protein within 45 minutes.

Can I use VoltForm while exercising?

Yes — and it's highly encouraged. Using VoltForm during light exercise (squats, lunges, planks, resistance band work) amplifies the training effect by combining involuntary EMS contractions with voluntary muscle engagement simultaneously.

This is the approach used from Week 2 of our 6-week programme. A 20-minute EMS session combined with movement can recruit more muscle fibres than an hour of conventional training alone.

Can VoltForm replace going to the gym?

EMS is a powerful complement to an active lifestyle — not a complete replacement for exercise. While VoltForm significantly increases muscle activation and can produce visible toning results, cardiovascular fitness, bone density, balance, and overall health benefit from varied physical activity.

We recommend using VoltForm alongside a generally active lifestyle for the best results.

Is VoltForm suitable for complete beginners with no fitness experience?

Absolutely. VoltForm is designed for all fitness levels, including total beginners. Modes 1–3 provide a very gentle introduction, and our 6-week programme starts slowly, building intensity week by week. Many of our customers start with VoltForm as their first step toward a more active lifestyle.

What should I eat and drink when using VoltForm?

Before your session: Drink at least 500ml of water. EMS increases metabolic activity and dehydration reduces effectiveness and increases soreness. Avoid heavy meals immediately before use.

After your session: Consume 25–40g of protein within 45 minutes. EMS creates a strong muscle-building stimulus — protein is essential to support recovery and muscle development. Good options: protein shake, eggs, Greek yoghurt, chicken, or fish.

What is the VoltForm 6-week training programme?

The VoltForm 6-week EMS Training Programme is a structured guide included with every kit, accessible via our online customer portal using the access code emailed after purchase.

It covers 6 progressive phases: Foundation → Build → Intensity → Deload → Peak → Elite. Each week includes daily session breakdowns, target muscle groups, recommended mode settings, exercise pairings, and recovery tips — plus access to the VoltForm AI Coach which generates a personalised plan based on your fitness level and goals.

Is the VoltForm EMS stimulator safe to use?

Yes, VoltForm is safe for healthy adults when used as directed. EMS technology has been used in physiotherapy, sports medicine, and rehabilitation for decades.

Always start at Mode 1, increase gradually, and never use on broken skin, over joints, or directly over the heart or throat.

Who should NOT use VoltForm?

EMS devices are not suitable for the following:

If you have any medical condition, are on medication, or are unsure about your suitability, consult your GP or healthcare provider before use.

Is VoltForm safe to use during pregnancy?

No. VoltForm and all EMS devices must not be used during pregnancy. Electrical stimulation is contraindicated as a precautionary measure to protect both mother and baby. Please consult your midwife or obstetrician if you have any questions about postpartum use after recovery.

Can EMS cause any side effects?

When used correctly, EMS side effects are minimal. Some users experience:


Muscle soreness: Normal after the first few sessions — similar to DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) from exercise. Reduce the intensity or take an extra rest day.
Skin redness: Mild redness under the pads is normal and fades quickly. Ensure pads are properly positioned and skin is clean.
Muscle fatigue: From overuse. Follow the 48-hour rule between sessions on the same muscle group.

Stop use immediately and consult a doctor if you experience unusual pain, burns, persistent skin irritation, or any unexpected symptoms.

Do you offer free shipping?

Yes — free standard shipping is available on qualifying orders. Shipping costs and any applicable thresholds are shown at checkout based on your delivery location. Express shipping options are also available for faster delivery.

How do I track my order?

Once your order is dispatched you'll receive a shipping confirmation email containing your tracking number. You can track your order in real-time on our Track My Order page at voltform.co — no redirect, everything happens on one page.

If tracking shows no updates within 7 days of your dispatch email, please contact info@voltform.co and we'll investigate immediately.

Can I change or cancel my order after placing it?

Orders can be modified or cancelled before they are handed to the carrier. Once dispatched, orders cannot be intercepted.

If you need to make a change, email info@voltform.co as soon as possible with your order number. We process orders quickly, so contact us immediately after placing your order.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, VoltForm ships worldwide. International orders may be subject to local import duties, customs fees, and taxes — these charges are the responsibility of the customer. Delivery times for international orders may be extended during peak seasons or due to customs processing.

What payment methods do you accept?

VoltForm accepts all major payment methods including: Visa, Mastercard, American Express (AMEX), PayPal, Afterpay, Alipay, Apple Pay, and Google Pay — processed securely via Shopify Payments with SSL encryption. We do not store your card details.

My tracking number isn't showing any updates — what do I do?

New tracking numbers can take up to 48 hours to activate after dispatch. International shipments may also show gaps in tracking during transit between countries and during customs processing — this is normal.

If your tracking shows absolutely no movement after 7 days from your dispatch email, contact us at info@voltform.co and we will investigate with our logistics partner and resend if necessary.

What is VoltForm's return policy?

VoltForm offers a 60-day conditional satisfaction guarantee. To be eligible:

✓ Used the device for at least 30 consecutive days
✓ Provide a completed Daily Usage Log (5+ sessions per week)
✓ Used the device alongside a calorie-controlled diet

For change-of-mind returns: unopened product only, within 14 days of delivery. Due to hygiene requirements, we cannot accept returns of devices that have been worn against the skin.

How do I start a return or refund request?

Email info@voltform.co with:

• Your order number
• Subject line: "Refund Request"
• Your completed Usage Log
• A brief description of your routine and diet during the period

We'll review and issue a Return Merchandise Authorisation (RMA) number with shipping instructions. Do not send returns without an RMA — they will not be processed.

My item arrived damaged or incorrect — what should I do?

We're sorry to hear that. Please contact us within 10 days of delivery with clear photos or video showing the issue. Email info@voltform.co with your order number and evidence, and we will arrange a replacement or refund promptly.

Who pays for return shipping?

Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer. We recommend using a trackable shipping service as VoltForm cannot be responsible for returns lost in transit. Original shipping fees paid at the time of purchase are non-refundable.
